Friday 17th January weekly update

17th January 2025

Head's message

Everyone is well and truly settled back into school life following the Christmas break, with lots of exciting learning taking place.   Lily the Dog came back into school on Thursday and spent time with the children in the library listening to stories being read. The children remembered Lily and were very happy to see her in school again.    Reception have had lots of parents in school since the start of term to share their jobs with the children.  This week has included a doctor, nurse, a vet and a dentist - all very inspiring!  Please remember to check tapestry for memo and posts about your child's learning in all year groups.

Vision tests - RECEPTION pupils only
If your child is in reception, please read the vision letter that has been emailed to you.  Please note this is an OPT OUT letter, so if you do not return it your child will be screened.

Family Information Service
The Family Information Service has a wealth of information for parents around child care, relationships, money, housing, mental health and wellbeing.  Please have a look at what they can offer or pop into school if you have questions or concerns that we can help with.

Phonic Screening Check information evening
Thursday 23rd January 6-7pm is an important evening for year 1 parents about the phonics screening check that all year 1 children take in June.  Please arrive promptly for a 6pm start.  More information on the statutory phonics screening check can be found here.

Parking
After a good run of people respecting the parking rules around school, some inconsiderate and illegal parking has started again.  Please help us to solve this by reporting any illegal parking directly to the police .  I have also asked the junior and preschool to send the same message out to their parents again.

Have a lovely weekend
