Friday 14th March Weekly Update

14th March 2025

Head's message
This week has been busy with lots of amazing learning taking place across school. Reception have continued reading lots of different traditional stories and this week have read The Three Billy Goats Gruff. I have seen bridges being built, trolls in the classroom and some super writing about what the troll would say.  In year 1 the children have been learning to recognise groups of 10 and count efficiently in 10s -  I am always impressed with the maths skills that I see and the great questions the children ask about their learning.  In year 2 they have continued learning about the Great Fire of London by looking at different sources of evidence from that time period.  We have some great historians in the making!

Important letters to read
There are very important letters in this week's correspondence for all year groups about the school trips that are coming up - please take the time to read these and complete the requested actions.  Timely payment and orders for lunches are really appreciated, as you can imagine it is quite a task organising trips for all our children.

PTA
Thank you to everyone who came to the PTA quiz last week and thank you again to the amazing PTA for all their hard work in organising and running it.  The questions were hard this year so huge congratulations to the winning teams!  (The staff teams are not bitter at all...)  The event raised £740 which will go towards revamping and opening up the wild area in the back playground in line with our OPAL (outdoor play and learning) initiative.
Your child will be coming home today with a printed letter about the Superwoman present room - please look out for this in book bags.

Lost Property
We are going to trial putting lost property out on the back playground on Friday as despite putting it out weekly in the entrance way to the school, the contents in the basket are multiplying daily.  At the end of this half term, any unclaimed lost property will be recycled so please come and take a look.

Celebration of learning
Please remember that Celebration of Learning on Tuesday 18th March will take place from 3pm to 3.20pm  - this is an opportunity to visit you child's classroom and look at their learning with them. No need to book, just turn up at your child's external classroom door.

Red Nose day
Please remember next Friday is Red Nose Day and the school council have invited children to wear a red accessory in exchange for a donation of your choice.  No red noses please as these are not safety compliant for young children.

Have a lovely weekend.
