Friday 15th November weekly update
15th November 2024
Head's message
Thank you for attending our Celebration of Learning event last week. This was really well attended and I hope you enjoyed looking at your child’s achievements so far this year.
On Monday our Remembrance Day assembly was led by year 2 who spoke about why this is an important day, read poems and sang songs. Reverend Cerys Smith joined us and helped to lead a prayer of thanks.
Year 2 had an informative and very enjoyable trip to St John’s museum on Tuesday. This trip really helps to bring life their learning about the Victorians. Thank you to all the parent helpers who came on the trip. If you have not yet made your payment for this trip, it is not too late please contact the office.
We continued to show our wonderful school to prospective parents of children starting school in September 2025 - please pass on our show round dates to friends that may not be aware of them. We have one final date left in January, but are always happy to show parents around on request.
We were very lucky to welcome a new visitor to school on Thursday - Lily the therapy dog. Lily, along with her owner Judy, visited all the classrooms and then spent time with some children in the library. We are hoping that Lily can visit us on a regular basis as we investigate the possibility of getting our very own Telford Infant School therapy dog.
Please see our loving learning pages for photos of these events this week.
Tuesday 19th November - Learning to Learn evening - 6pm - 7pm
You are invited to come onto school to find out more about how your child learns reading, phonics and maths and how you can support them at home. The feedback from this event has always been positive and we urge you to attend. Adults only please
Friday 29th November - Grandparents Glitter day
Grandparents are invited into school for either the morning or afternoon to work with their grandchild to make Christmas cards, calendars and decorations. This is a really popular event and you will be required to book a slot. Please refer to the letter sent in your email on how to do this.
Alternative Christmas cards
This year we will be continuing with our Christmas tradition of supporting the Leamington Night Shelter and asking you to not send your child to school with Christmas cards for their friends but instead provide items that are desperately needed by vulnerable and homeless people. We will be providing more information on what is needed over the next few weeks.
Christmas performances
Dates for the different Christmas performances are available on our calendar. We are able to accommodate 2 adults only per child (no younger siblings please) at each event and have to be strict on numbers due to health and safety restrictions in both our school hall and the church. You do not need to book to attend these events, your name will be ticked off as you arrive. Year 2 will require parents to help walk the children to church so pease let them know if you able to help.
It is not long now until our Winter Wonderland on Friday 6th December from 5.30pm - 7.30pm, please see the flyer and poster sent in your email on what exciting things will be happening and how you can support this fab school community event.
Finally, on behalf of Cauliflower cards and Royal Mail I would like to apologise for the delay in some parents receiving their orders. We are trying hard to resolve these issues and will keep you updated.
Have a lovely weekend.
Ms Roberts
